Peter Bowman is an Artist, Illustrator and Author of many years experience. working as an Author and Illustrator in watercolours, pencil, pen & ink, to create very beautiful detailed illustrations for many Children's books and Commercial illustration. Pete's early work was influenced by artists such as Salvador Dali, Nicola Bailey, Shirley Hughes, Kate Greenaway and Arthur Rackham. Pete's first commission on leaving Art College was to illustrate The Rudyard Kipling 'Just So' books for Mothercare. Also one of Pete's books, "Is That What Friends Do?" was the first children's book to be featured on CBeebies - TV
Another creation of Pete's is 'Tiny Ted', follow the adventures of the worlds smallest teddy bear. He has created many other characters. Including two bears for Interflora, named 'Sweet William & Rose'.
Peter also does School Author Visits His work as a visiting Illustrator - Author demonstrates how to create picture books for children. His commercial illustration work has been used by many blue chip companies such as Walt Disney, Virgin Airways, Sainsbury, Marks and Spencer, N.S.P.C.C., Greenpeace, The Prince's Trust, The Woodland Trust and Friends of the Earth. In 25 years Peter has illustrated 48 Picture books, over 200 worldwide. He is published in 20 countries, which include the USA, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the Middle East.
Peter is currently working in collaboration with 'Inspiration NorthWest' He has developed a set of eight Children's Care Cards for the NHS, which includes his established character Tiny Ted along with a new child friendly character, Inspiration NW Dragon. The Inspiration Northwest Care Cards were developed to explore the 'How I felt about it' element of eight aspects of emotional care for children when they visit hospital and other medical institutions.The Children's Care Cards were launched at the end of October 2011 and are at present being trialled at several hosptals across the country.Click on Tiny Ted & Inspiration Dragon to learn more about the NHS project.
